WhatsApp brings new update, now calling will be more secure; Just turn on this feature
To increase the privacy of users, a new feature ‘Protect IP Address in Call’ has been added by WhatsApp. With the help of this feature, you can now make calls without revealing your IP address. This feature has been added by WhatsApp for those people who are very conscious about their privacy and it is completely optional.
How will this feature work?
Like WhatsApp, all the apps providing calling services work on peer to peer connectivity. That is, during a call, both the people talking are able to see each other’s IP address and also have complete information about the company providing the internet.
Turning on the ‘Protex IP Address in Call’ feature will change this entire approach. To avoid revealing IP addresses, WhatsApp will relay calls from users with ‘Protect IP Address in Call’ turned on through its servers instead of establishing peer-to-peer connectivity between two users. The advantage of this will be that the IP address will remain completely hidden.
The company says that by turning on this new feature, the IP address will be hidden and your conversation will also remain completely end-to-end encrypted and no one, not even WhatsApp, can listen to it. However, the drawback is that the call quality may deteriorate during a conversation.
Meta wrote in its blog that the new feature ‘Protex IP Address in Call’ will completely change the way calling is connected. Also told that this feature has been launched globally.
